I have a Masters of Science in Psychology from the University of Northern British Columbia. I utilize an eclectic approach with an emphasis on client-centered Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples/families to address a variety of issues that undermine one’s potential for happiness. These issues include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety, stress management, body image, self-esteem, life transitions, behavioural issues, parenting issues, relationship struggles and family of origin issues. I have a special interest in working with individuals who are struggling to achieve or maintain a healthy weight and with individuals who are thinking about or have had bariatric surgery for weight loss.

I believe that every person deserves to, and can, live a happy, fulfilling, and healthy life. The struggles and challenges we sometimes face do not need to be battled alone. Sometimes we get “stuck” in life and do not have the tools to move forward. My goal as a therapist is to help clients explore their struggles and challenges, provide support during the healing process, and offer guidance as they disentangle from their past and begin to live freely in the present. I offer an accepting and safe space to heal, grow and change.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I hope I can be helpful to you, and I look forward to meeting you!

Over the last few years I have had the opportunity to get to know many clients during our sessions together. I always maintain hope that their life experiences can be more positive. I believe in my clients and their ability to create this positive change for themselves. My therapy style is derived from utilizing an eclectic approach, with Reality Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy as its foundation. This means that our therapy sessions will tend to have themes such as responsibility, setting goals, increasing self-awareness, communication and empathy, making beneficial changes in small, easy steps, and finding effective techniques and solutions.

These recurrent themes contribute to the client’s experience in therapy because they help the client to change their mindset and perspectives about their current situation, as well as the people involved in it. This is often a catalyst for changing old, negative patterns into more positive ones.
