I value the opportunity to work with those in my community who are seeking to bring positive change into their personal and professional lives. I have counselled collaboratively with diverse clients and embrace what makes each person unique by way of their race, culture, religion, and sexual orientation. I believe that people are social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, physical and occupational beings, so my goal is to work with clients on those aspects, that for them, are most pressing.

I hold a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, an MBA and an undergraduate degree in Psychology. I have training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. I am certified in the Hendricks Model of Couples therapy and have achieved level one and level two in Gottman’s Relationship Therapy, an approach I incorporate when working with couples addressing interpersonal issues.

My professional background includes 10 years as a mental health therapist and twenty years as an executive director and executive coach for individuals and teams.

I look forward to being of service to you as you seek change, knowledge, and resources in support of your goals to thrive personally and in your relationships. While we cannot change difficult situations in our past, we can work together to resolve current challenges and co-create a different and positive future.

Hello, I have been in the field for over 16 years and with Insight for 6.5 years. I continue to be passionate working with clients, helping them live their lives to their fullest potential.

I take a client-centered approach and I work with clients using modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Besides individuals, I work with couples and families. I also do a lot of work with clients who have experienced trauma.

I graduated with a Marital and Family Therapy degree from Loma Linda California in 2001 and I have well over 14 years of experience dealing with individuals of all ages. I have a wealth of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly providing individual and couples/family therapy. I’ve also worked in the field of Children’s Mental Health, dealing with complex and severe mental health issues in Alberta Health Services setting for over 7 years.

Although I have a strong background working with children’s mental health issues and system’s theory, my main focus and primary specialty at present is helping others deal with trauma. I have been trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and use this as a primary modality in working with trauma.

Trauma can be defined as a big “T” trauma with situations such as natural disasters and car accidents. Sometimes the most common trauma is small “t” trauma which includes ongoing chronic stressors that have a significant impact on a person’s emotional, mental, and physical functioning over time. Accordingly, the impact of trauma may affect people by creating symptoms, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, memory loss, poor focus and concentration, poor sleep and eating habits, aggression, and perhaps an overall sense of sadness.

I specialize in dealing with some of the following issues: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, bipolar disorder, worry and obsessiveness, workplace stress, relationships and intimacy, grieving and loss, anger, adult ADHD, single incident trauma, complex trauma, post traumatic stress, test anxiety and separation/divorce. If there is a presenting issue not listed here, please feel free to ask me.
